The makings of Isaro:

Writer: Kayla Kayla

I thought of Isaro about a year ago. At first, it came as just an idea, nothing I actually intended on acting upon.

Of all things to blog about, why mental health?

Mental health has always been something I’ve been passionate about, particularly how it’s interwoven with our daily lives and almost all of our experiences.

Speaking from personal experience, I’m someone who gets overwhelmed and stressed quite easily. I’m not the most open person. I’ve battled with perfectionism and comparison for some years now. (Gosh I hate vulnerability!)

These are only a few of the personal traits I’m working on overcoming.

Working to overcome some of the negative tendencies I have has been far from easy, and I realize that if I have days where I struggle, there are definitely days where others struggle too. That’s why I created Isaro. Despite my very many resignations and what-ifs, I created this space for all of us to visit on our bad days, a place where our less-than perfect selves can find comfort in other people’s words, a place where we can talk about how unfair life can be—how stressful growing up and being responsible is. But also a place to remind one another that it’s going to all be okay eventually, to share happiness, and to find ways to make life the beautiful and magical experience it is meant to be.

Join us on this journey of creating a safe, mental health aware community of teens. I hope this site becomes the safe place for you, that it is for me.
